Actually it helps to find one thing you can glamorize. It's hard to get their interest going. I am glad you caught it.
Were learning a lot from you!A rootdiggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02642330951208433671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4011504164207885278.post-61174625536693329972010-12-19T12:00:42.198-05:002010-12-19T12:00:42.198-05:00Than you Bill.

Unfortunately, most of the Indian stories in our Acadian & French-Canadian families cannot be proven and become lore more than history lol.

LucieLucie LeBlanc Consentinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13480035657625949265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4011504164207885278.post-77081621712510098582010-12-19T11:41:16.742-05:002010-12-19T11:41:16.742-05:00Great post, Lucie! I recently helped an old high school classmate from the Forrand family get started on his family research and like you he was of French-Canadian heritage. His
ancestors migrated to the Fall River
and New Bedford area in the 1800s and like you, he had heard the
"Indian Princess" story. Turns out there was Indian blood in his family. It was fascinating and fun
helping him start tracing his roots.Bill Westhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01266937924453737084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4011504164207885278.post-3042204312068324392010-12-19T10:50:35.467-05:002010-12-19T10:50:35.467-05:00Hi Heather,

I used to ride my bike to the Antiquarian Society in Worcester to do research on my family, and I found a book by accident that traced one line back three hundred years and I was hooked. It's always fun to find out how other genealogists started their obsessions!Heather Wilkinson Rojohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17704949156266722016noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4011504164207885278.post-73689371656285343652010-12-19T08:12:21.196-05:002010-12-19T08:12:21.196-05:00Hi Lisa,

If they stop one moment to consider the hierarchy of Native tribes (if one can call it that), there were no royalty aka princesses. Chiefs is what the heads of tribes were called ;)

Thank you for your post.

LucieLucie LeBlanc Consentinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13480035657625949265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4011504164207885278.post-13102102208819997352010-12-19T08:00:43.240-05:002010-12-19T08:00:43.240-05:00There must be a lot of "Indian Princess"...There must be a lot of "Indian Princess" stories out there as I was told by my mother when I was a child that there was one on her side of the family (not that I have ever found). And now that I have been a geneaholic for 16 years I am surrounded by distant Tyree cousins that truly believe one of our line was an full blooded Cherokee Indian Princess and that she was actually rescued while on the famous Trail of Tears trek, (also highly doubtful). There seems to be quite a fascination out there about Indians and Royalty!Lisa Wallen Logsdonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13003873811444854964noreply@blogger.com
