A Quick Flip-Pal Scan

A few minutes ago, I decided to try the Flip-Pal Scanner laying my father's WWI medal on this old photo of him in his uniform.  You have got to like the effect.

The other thing I like is that when I look at the scanned photo, I can clearly see the campaigns my father fought in.  I scanned it in high resolution so I can also enlarge the photo as much as I'd like if I want a large print.

The more I try this wonderful little scanner, the more I love it.  Thanks to my family for gifting me. I just l-o-v-e this gadget!  Now what did we ever do before the Flip-Pal Scanner came into our lives?!?!

Terrific use of this must have gadget. This tipped the balance for me. Shall I send the commission to you or one of the other 100 geneabloggers writing about their Flip-Pal?

LOL.. can you split the commission one hundred ways? LOL

Oh, that is nice! I keep telling myself that I don't need a 5th scanner but there certainly are some unique uses for this one that aren't possible with anything else.

Believe me when I say it is a b-i-g like! ;)

Yes...I believe I am a direct decendant...a grand daughter of Noel J Goodrich, life gets complicated... You r a real inspiration to all that are trying to figure out where they come from. I am 50 years old , and remember Seeing Noel for the last time when I was 5 years old.
My mother was married to his son.
Thank you NATrager

What a great idea for this must-have gadget! My family gifted me this past fall, and the holidays have prevented my experimentation. This post makes me want to find the time! BTW Does your Flip-Pal act like a battery hog? I found that I needed to have batteries before I finished my first session with it. :(

Hi Kay,

I've used it several times and no problem regarding batteries though I assure you that I've stocked up.

How quickly your batteries run out also depends on the resolution - the higher the resolution is set will cause the batteries to run out more quickly. I understand that one should be able to scan about 200 photos on one set of batteries. I've no idea at what resolution as I've not tried to do that many yet. Here at home, I used my other scanner, plugged into my USB port. I will be experimenting soon on large photos and the stitching software. I just love this little take-with-me wherever scanner!

Thanks for the reminder, Lucie. I am sure that I was setting it to a high resolution, to capture the photos I couldn't remove from an album. And it was nowhere near 200, more like 20. But I wanted them for keepsakes, and I guess there is no battery value on that!! I do love the portability and the ability to stitch things together--which I am to try on a 1840 document this weekend!

Right Kay and I agree..no value on keepsakes when we get a great scan.

I have been working on a presentation (genealogy and histor) that I'm giving this Saturday. After that I'm going to play with this great scanner! I want to go out to search documents and scan them..I'll see how that goes!

Enjoy!
